Development of neural networks in normal and pathological conditions

The projects of our team aim at better understanding mechanisms involved in the embryonic construction of mammal spinal motor networks in normal and pathological conditions (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS). This construction is orchestrated by spontaneous activity and includes the synaptogenesis and maturation of GABA/glycine inhibitory connections.

Two projects are conducted:

Research axis:

  • Development of mouse spinal motoneurons / Ontogenic changes in chloride homeostasis
  • Early changes in spinal motor networks from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) mouse models
  • Mechanisms involved in the genesis of spontaneous activity in spinal motor networks
