The MAAD (Mechanisms of Addiction to Alcohol and Drugs) programme, launched by Inserm with the support of MILDECA (French Government’s Inter-Departmental Mission for the Fight against Drugs and Drug Addiction, formerly MILDT), is based on a “scientific education” style approach intended to increase the knowledge of young people on substances by introducing them to the scientific method.Throughout the school year, Salah Doukkali, junior, and Flora Lambert, senior secondary school students have been hosted each month in the Addicteam, under the supervision of Stéphanie Caillé-Garnier and Florence Darlot. The aim of this program is two-fold: to change the views of these young “Novice Researchers” of the hidden face of drugs (alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, etc.) and addiction, but also to facilitate contact between young people and the world of research. On May the 29th 2017, the Apprentis Chercheurs have presented their research project to several professors and school mates at the PGFB (see pictures) and the session has been closed with an award ceremony. Good job the Apprentis!
