Last November, the French Ministry of Armed Forces in collaboration with the General Directorate of Armament (DGA) hold its first Innovation Forum at the city of Fashion and Design in Paris. The Forum aimed to gather and present projects working on a dual objective (civil and military) and granted by the DGA. The scopes of the projects were large, starting from PhD projects up to national companies’ projects. Around 160 selected exhibitors were present, among which was the PhD project of Matthieu Guémann directed by Aymar de Rugy on the control of a virtual arm with vibrotactile feedback. Matthieu was accompanied by Christophe Halgand, the scientific computing research engineer who developped the control interface. The project met a great interest and elicited discussions with various companies and funding agencies.
This forum was also the occasion for the Minister of the Armed Forces, Mrs. Florence Parly, to talk about the launch of the Innovation and Defense Agency and announced the funding objectives for tomorrow’s projects regarding civilian and military innovation.
The research and development were at the center of discussions during those 3 days, contributing to a successful experience for all of the exhibitors.
